W-Style® Air Cooled Condenser

About W-Style® Air Cooled Condenser

W-Style ACC® is an innovative Induced Draft Air-Cooled Condenser (ACC) directly condensing the steam turbine exhaust flow. The condensate returns to the boiler without any water loss.
With its unique “W” heat exchanger structure, the amount of steel and overall height of the ACC are dramatically reduced (compared to traditional forced draft arrangements).

The shortened finned tubes lead to a reduced ACC back pressure and a smaller risk of flow accelerated corrosion. The W-Style ACC® has lower overall steel weight, is less wind sensitive and offers a reduced back pressure at low temperatures. These characteristics result in an improvement of the average annual power plant output.

Features

The W-Style ACC® module utilizes our proven Single-Row Condenser (SRC®) finned tubes. The heat exchangers are arranged in a “W” shape. Two large steam manifolds at the bottom distribute the steam to the heat exchangers. To improve effective non-condensable gas extraction, the heat exchanger system includes primary, secondary and tertiary tubes. The induced draft axial fans, gearboxes and motors are mounted above the heat exchangers. The “W” structure provides central support for the fan bridge mitigating vibration.

Benefits

01. State of the art

W-Style ACC® benefits of improved access for drive system maintenance.

02. Cost effective

The “W” shaped structure leads to lower overall height, a reduced number of foundations and thus a smaller footprint.

03. Innovative

The innovative W-Style ACC® reduces steam velocity in the finned tubes mitigating flow accelerated corrosion inside the finned tubes.

04. Sustainable

W-Style ACC® offers Induced Draft ACC and decreased wind sensitivity.
