The Project Technical Leader is the accountable person for all the technical aspects of a project with JOB SUMMARY focus on schedule and budget improvements, a critical role to ensure best performance in execution.

Integrated within the Engineering Department, he coordinates the engineering department responsible for each discipline and is accountable for the timely production, quality and completeness of the project deliverables.

He will create the right bridge between the US PTL team, the US design and the Brussels’ team. He will structure and increase the competencies of the US PTL team. He will support and create the right link with all newcomers in Charlotte (PM, Supply chain, etc.) from an engineering perspective. He is the single pointy of contact (SPOC) for all technical aspects toward other stakeholders.

He works in close contact with the project manager, who is responsible for the project execution, to ensure all the projects milestones are met and all technical aspects of a project are answered. The project Technical leader also works with the extended role of process and equipment engineer and he is responsible for the sizing and selection of the equipment.

He supports the Procurement team for technical alignment and resolve technical issues faced during manufacturing and construction. Supporting the proposal and sale team is required to improve the consistency of the technical offer prior to contract award.

Duties

Proposal Phase, Support the Proposal and Sales Team in:

  • Reviewing Customer specification 
  • Be part of a bid team to overcome potential criticalities of the bid and to ensure consistency of the bid with the project requirement and budget. 
  • Technical clarification meetings with customers. 
  • Issue technical documents for equipment required during the bid stage. 

Accountability for all the technical aspects: Accountability with the Project Manager to meet and beat project schedule and project budget

Project Execution 

  • Review and validation of the Air Cooled Condenser thermal design 
  • Preparation, attendance and follow-up of the KoM with client 
  • Leading all project technical phases focusing on continuous improvement of schedule and budget and upon highest quality standards, finding the best technical solution 
  • First line communication with the customers, the consortium partners, and major subcontractors for all the technical aspects 
  • Lead the issuance of the Piping and Instrumentation diagram 
  • Sizing and selection of industrial equipment (pumps, vans, piping, valves, vacuum skid…) 
  • Issuance of functional descriptions and project related procedures. 
  • Coordination of engineering disciplines during all the different phases, design, manufacturing, construction 
  • Accountability for deliverables schedule. 

Project Procurement 

  • Preparation of the technical RFQs and evaluate bids from vendors in co-operation with Supply Chain, Engineering and Project management. 
  • Support the Quality and Expediting team for technical matters and NCR’s during the equipment manufacturing phase. 
  • At time, for specific equipment, participate to manufacturing KoM and/or inspections. Project Construction 
  • Supporting the construction team and/or client for technical matters 
  • Assist the Project Management and/or Construction Team in NCRs resolution 

Required profile

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Strong ability to liaise effectively, work in team with and build bridges between other departments
  • Technical background, Knowledge of heat exchange processes and mechanical construction is a plus
  • Strong customer focus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project
  • Knowledge of CAD environments
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English
  • Project management skills, must be self-directed
